Devilish was a very unique game and I am delighted to see something else like it.. Arkanoid to the next level, funny, enjoyable, and unique.. A bizarre little game that uses the Arkanoid / Breakout gameplay and wraps it up with a simple story. Its worth what he's asking for it.You wont be getting a typical Arkanoid. Its about percision hitting and some luck. And while it bets on replayability it doesn't don't have the option to quickly restart a level. You can fail to complete a level without dying (dropping the ball), which is very frustrating if you are used to the traditional arkanoid formula. This twist offers new light on game play.It would have been better to ease the player into this new dynamic instead of entirely forcing it down.Oveall its a fun little experince if you are not higly demanding about your arkanoids. The one major mistake is not allowing people to replay specific levels. You want fix your performance on the last level of the game. Tough luck you have to start a new game and play all the levels again. This is definetly showing the maker to be a newbie and explains why the whole game is somewhat a collection of scattered idea and didn't evolve any of the game aspects its uses.. I REALLY like playing this game!! I always had a fondness for 'breakout' style games, and this one is no exception, bringing great enjoyment and fun. I personally have not seen things worthy of complaint, and there have been 3 updates since I got this game, which is very affirming. Granted, there WERE some things that interfered with total enjoyment, that have been fixed before I even had a chance to complain...so I can write a favorable review without reservation. Between Death's Hangover, and a psychedelic brick-breaker called 'Happy Pong' that came out a few weeks prior to the release of this here game, I've got two ideal games to perfectly scratch my 'breakout' type game itch. A good time to be a gamer!! lol. fun arkanoid/breakout game not triple A level but its still good for a bit of fun.this is just like breakout/arkanoid but you can make the ball move faster or slower at will and like in other such games you can get powerups. the levels have random elements and secret paths as you clime the tower. it gets harder as you get farther in as enemies will shoot at you.as for the story its cute in a childish way. death takes 2 male souls and puts them into girl bodies then forces them to go fight a vampire.story mode is just like arcade but you do some side view rooms and a little puzzle before each breakout level. the levels and story are the same on these parts but there is added story on the between level stuff. story mode is locked untill you beat arcade for some reason.. Death's Hangover is an enjoyable brick breaker clone with a lot of diversity and things that kill the doldrums of the genre. Rather than breaking all the blocks or barrels in this case, you either need to break through a wide exit gate at the other side of the screen and then exit. This makes a "break-through" rather than a brick breaker. There are bosses, blocks, tricks and traps that get in the way. It's a simple game, as most block breakers are, but it's a fun game enhanced with arcade quality sound effects that add some punch to everything. Two girls wake up in a dungeon after what I assume is a night of drinking and must now escape a castle or kill Dracula. There's a story, but a lot of it, I button mashed my way through. So one girl hops in a metal ball while the other girl controls the paddle at the bottom of the screen. I assume when one dies, they both perish. You can only move left and right while dodging projectiles and enemies. Killing enemies results in bloody green or red goo that's a visual treat. Maneuvering around projectiles while keeping your ball out of the pit becomes the big issue. Most enemies move forward, but later on they get more challenging. Some enemies shoot, others head toward you at a slow pace, while others hide behind shields and bounce the ball back at you. This diversity keeps the game fun and engaging. The game has several themed areas as you crawl up a castle. Each area has several rooms that go by quick since you only need to bash the exit and move your ball through. Some rooms feel as if their only purpose is to collect power-ups and souls for later. Bosses are frequent as are enemy rooms where you need to slaughter X amount of enemies before you can break through the gate. Still other rooms feel more typical with a twist. Typical barrels block the path while other times there are moving or shifting blocks to get in the way.As for themes, you start in the dungeon, get to the sewer where water lanes act conveyor belts for your ball, get to an arena where the fans riot and pile into the screen and even reach a point where the side walls that secure you into a lane can break away. Each area has its own enemies and dreary look. There is a limited, dark castle dungeon-esque color scheme that may turn away some, but the game's charm and fun makes up for it.Breaking barrels has a chance to release an item such as multi-ball that breaks your single ball into three, a double dart gun, a fireball and a bomb that will destroy anything in its radius. Once you have a power-up or weapon you can fire at will. Since the object is to get your ball out the door, multi-balls will only go with you, if you get them to the exit.Along the way, you'll also find souls. These are optional collectables, that have a big impact on game overs. With a soul, you can use them to gamble on a big wheel for prizes like extra lives. It's a nice frill to keep you in game. When you think you've lost, here are more lives. While you're on your journey, you'll have a reaper guiding you with brief lines of dialog as a hint for each new level. Between areas of the castle, you'll see silly dialog between the blonde working the paddle and the drunk dullard forced to be in the ball. While the dialog seems unnecessary in a genre like this, it does add to the fun and charm. With the robust sounds, dreary colors, quirky comedy, quick levels, it makes this game feel like an addictive arcade game from a different era. For the cheap price, it's worth the hand full of quarters.. Fun quirky Arkanoid type game with comedy horror theme.. Started game. Got a message game does not support my video card. Lol'ed. Refunded. I don't recommend Death's Hangover. It looked nice, it had good reviews and it was cheap so I bought it. It looks like a game from from the early to mid nineties and plays one. You've played one Arkanoid clone, you've played them all. This one isn't much of an exception. The ball "physics" are the same. I was hoping something a bit more modern and realistic, but the ball behaves as obnoxiously as in the older games. The power-ups aren't anything new either. It's mostly the same stuff I've seen in much older game. Death's Hangover does not re-invent or revitalize this genre. It's just more of the same. The most unique thing about this game is the story/humour, which is dumb and vulgar. I guess it's trying to be ironically bad or silly, but it's just bad.The worst thing about this Death's Hangover is that the two qualities you need to be succesful is good reflexes and luck. When the ball behaves unexpectedly you have to react to it. At least there is a slow time function which is decent, and something new, but it's still not enough. The luck bit is the most annoying one. Certain levels have undestructible blocks that alternate between being open and closed. You have to be able get the ball through them at the right time, which is all about timing, and no you cannot really direct the ball the way you want. You can try to sort of direct it, but not well enough. Another luck based element is the power-ups. Some levels are really easy with the right power-up, but without it's all about luck. And whether or not you get the power-up is all about luck. I managed to beat one boss in a few seconds because I was able to shoot it in the face without having to rely on the unreliable ball. I don't even know how the boss would have reacted if I had to beat it fair and square.Anyway, I don't recommend this game. I was hoping to see something new. But if you've always been a fan of Arkanoid/Breakout clones (Batty on C64 is the one I played as a kid), you might like it. For me it just reminded me that I've never been a fan of these games. At least it's very cheap so you won't waste much money if you don't like.
